Birketts adds five partners

Law firm Birketts has recruited five new partners to take the total number to 135. The appointments come in the Corporate, Construction and Residential Development sectors.

The new partners are: Damocles Merry, Salim Somjee and Helen Garner – all Corporate – plus Simon Oats (Construction) and Phil Brown (Residential Development). Damocles joins Birketts from Osborne Clarke, while Salim and Helen previously held positions at Cripps. Simon was at Eversheds. No such details have been released for Phil Brown.

The latest appointments follow five partner promotions at the firm announced last month, as well as the arrival of Patrick Wetherall, who joined Birketts as a real estate partner in April. A Band 1 leading Partner for property disputes in both Chambers and Legal 500, Patrick was formerly Head of Real Estate, Developer Sector, and Board Member at Foot Anstey.
