Export Academy launched by Department for International Trade

The Department for International Trade in the East of England is inviting companies to sign up to its Export Academy – a fully funded programme that guides businesses through the fundamentals of exporting, leaving participants  with an immediately implementable export action plan.

The DiT says its Export Academy gives SME’s the knowledge and expertise to export under the guidance of experts at the Department for International Trade and a range of external specialists.

DiT says the  course has been tailored to help companies overcome common challenges that businesses may face when they first start to export. 

The programme is comprised of 8 core modules including:
• Market Research
• Export Procedures and Routes to Market
• Pricing Strategy
• Understanding International Commercial Terms
• Understanding Custom Procedures, Tariffs and Export Controls
• Movement of Money

DiT Organisers said businesses that complete the 8 core modules will leave with a completed export action plan to take their business to international customers.

They added that whether a company is new to exporting, has its first order from an international client or is from someone new to an exporting role, the programme will provide the knowledge and confidence to begin a journey into international markets.

There are only a few spaces remaining for the programme which begins on September 16, 2021, so interested companies are  advised to register interest in the next couple of days.

Sell Beauty and Cosmetics Globally using Amazon

The Department for International Trade is also promoting a series of webinars to educate people in the beauty industry on how they can bring their products and expertise to a wider audience.

The DiT says E-commerce platforms can be a quick and easy way to begin exploring exporting, as they can allow your company to test potential markets without the costs traditionally incurred.The organisation has launched a series of webinars to discover how to companies can maximise  exposure and sales in the US, Japan and Europe through Amazon. 

Amazon is an e-commerce platform that offers a colossal reach to new customers across the globe. With over 2.7 billion visitors in June 2021 alone, Amazon is a trusted household name for many. E-commerce sites allow businesses to test product appeal and build a customer base in new markets with just a few clicks and from the comfort of your desk.

The sessions
These free, hour long sessions, will be hosted by experienced experts in the industry and will look to cover three topic areas including:

  2. Fulfilment solutions
  3. Compliance Dates

  • Tuesday 12th October, 11:00-12:00, Sell on Amazon Japan – John Cant, Japan E-Commerce Analyst, Rising Sun Commerce
  • Tuesday 19th October, 11:00-12:00, Sell on Amazon Europe – Frank Van Den Berg, CEO, InfinityBlue Marketplaces
