Filtronic wins $20.9m deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX

Filtronic, which opened an engineering design centre at Cambridge Science Park near the end of last year, has clinched a $20.9 million contract with SpaceX. The AIM-quoted electronics company saw its stock in the UK rise 10 per cent on the news.

The deal involves supplying technology for the American firm’s Starlink satellite links. Filtronic has previously worked with SpaceX, as reported last November. Filtronic won three separate deals with SpaceX in 2024 worth multimillions. It provides Musk’s business with radio frequency power amplifiers for its low orbit satellite system.

Filtronic recently posted half-year revenue of £25.6m, up £8.5m year-on-year – and announced an operating profit of £6.8m.

Cambridge Science Park provides Filtronic with access to a vibrant network of key industry players, research institutions, and highly skilled radio frequency engineering talent to execute on its growth plans. It enables the company to enhance its technical capabilities, foster collaboration and accelerate product innovation in high-frequency communications.

It also enhances Filtronic's ability to support new and existing clients in the region while providing a base for collaborative projects aimed at pushing the boundaries of RF and mmWave technology in mission-critical applications.
