Green and Silver a winning combination for Meet Cambridge

The Green Impact Awards, part of an award-winning United Nations programme led by SOS-UK (Students Organising for Sustainability), celebrate the environmental achievements of University departments, Colleges, and partner institutions. This year’s ceremony took place at Newnham College.
The Silver Award recognises Meet Cambridge’s impactful sustainability initiatives over the past year, including strong team engagement through weekly discussions, clear signage, and visible reminders that encourage environmentally conscious choices - including a plastic-free pledge aimed at reducing waste.
Sarah Maycock, Sustainability Lead at Meet Cambridge said: “We’re thrilled to have achieved the Silver Award this year. Sustainability is a core value for us, not just in our office practices, but also in how we inspire and collaborate with our venues and clients.”
Meet Cambridge not only practises sustainability but also promotes, supports and influences both the member venues and event organisers looking to use Cambridge. A key example of this is the launch of the ‘Meet Cambridge Sustainability Focus Group’, a new networking forum for its 50 member venues across Cambridge, designed to share ideas, raise questions, and track progress on sustainability goals.
Megan Halliday, from Newnham College, one of Meet Cambridge’s venues, said: “It’s great to have the College’s efforts recognised by this award. We’re proud of the work we’ve done as a College to increase our sustainability offering, we’re passionate about embedding sustainability into the events we organise and host.”
