Intellegens provides AI support for robotic, high-speed digital manufacturing project

Cambridge company Intellegens is AI partner in a new digital manufacturing project led by Photocentric, supported by £3.7m investment in smart factory projects from Innovate UK, the Government’s investment research arm.

The project, named ‘IntelliJeni’, will apply AI to the development of parts made in the world’s first autonomous manufacturing process using arrays of LCD-driven 3D printers.

Project partners Photocentric (based in Peterborough and Arizona), Intellegens, and AMFG in London & Texas, aim to create a digital ecosystem that self-optimises the 3D printing process.

The solution is based on learning from each new part created to refine the process parameters for future parts against performance, cost, and environmental objectives.

The innovation is expected to make manufacturing faster, more cost-effective, and reduce waste throughout the production lifecycle.

The project is based on the Photocentric Jeni technology, a modular, turnkey automated 3D printing solution that increases productivity, resource and energy efficiency, and digital technology adoption while localising manufacturing.

Intellegens provides the AI component with its Alchemite™ machine learning software, which extracts insights from real-world experimental and process data to enable smarter material and process decisions.
