Levidian reveals that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Gas Malaysia Berhad, a member of MMC Group, to explore the deployment of LOOP in Malaysia as well as the wider Southeast Asian region.

The parties have agreed to collaborate on the deployment of a LOOP unit in Malaysia that will serve as a reference installation for further expansion toward broader regional commercialisation.

John Hartley, CEO of Levidian said: “This MoU lays the foundation for an impactful collaboration, delivering both economic and environmental value through innovation. We are proud to partner with Gas Malaysia in bringing LOOP to Southeast Asia, supporting both the region’s decarbonisation goals and wider adoption of graphene as we continue on our journey to become one of the world’s largest producers of high-quality, more sustainable graphene.”

En. Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, The President & Group Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia added: “We are pleased to partner with Levidian as it marks a significant step forward in our decarbonisation journey and pursuit of a sustainable future.

“Our venture into high-quality graphene aligns well with the goals of Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030. Notably, graphene has been identified as one of four game-changing advanced materials under the National Advanced Materials Technology Roadmap 2021-2030, with the potential to transform the manufacturing sector.”

The new deal takes Levidian back to its roots after it spun out of Cambridge University as Cambridge Nanosystems in 2012.

The company, which has developed a process to produce graphene at ultra-high quality and on a larger scale than has previously been possible by using biogas waste products such as Methane, in 2014 began partnering with Malaysia's Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV), a global agricultural and commodities business.

Levidian is a reigning Business Weekly Awards category winner.
