And the law firm's staff have benefited handsomely through the annual all-staff bonus scheme. This year's bonus pool, directly linked to the firm’s profits, was £1.4 million so the majority of its people each received a windfall of at least £1,000. The financial results reflected a number of significant milestones and a range of exciting projects.

Mills & Reeve invested in 21 new partners over the year, including nine lateral hires and 12 internal promotions.

It strengthened business services to help support the growth of the firm, including the arrival of Rebecca Bell as General Counsel in November. Recent investments were made in the Birmingham, London and Leeds offices.

As well as staff voting the firm fabulous to work for, Mills & Reeve introduced a refreshed set of values after consulting with more than 750 staff.

The firm also strengthened its international offering to clients in a re-branding to M&R Global, with the aim for 40 per cent of all work to have an international element by 2030.

Managing partner, Claire Clarke, said: "This is a strong performance in the face of challenging market conditions. We’ve continued to invest in our people, technology and offices to push forward with our ambitious 2030 strategy.

“We’re only a year into our strategy and have already seen strong progress towards our key target areas of putting clients at the heart of our business, being a leader in our sector and markets, driving success through technology and being a leader in people experience.

“While we continue to do business in uncertain times, we have a strong, well balanced, firm with exciting opportunities across the key sectors and markets we operate in. We remain confident in our strategy, strong culture and passion in delivering for clients.”
