New goals to Newcastle! 42T is acquired by British Engines Group
British Engines is a long-established engineering group headquartered in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with operations across the UK and internationally. The acquisition gives the group access to 42T’s innovation and engineering expertise, and reflects its interest in working with specialist companies that can further strengthen its wider industrial and manufacturing businesses.
Although the two businesses operate different models, British Engines and 42T share the same core values. 42T will continue to operate independently with the same consultancy approach, leadership team and no planned changes.
British Engines Group is an independent organisation founded in 1922 and today has 1,600 people worldwide. 42 Technology becomes one of nine businesses within the group. Under the new ownership, 42T will continue to operate as an independent consultancy, retaining its brand, leadership team and way of working.
Alex Lamb, Chairman of British Engines Group, and the board have made a clear commitment to preserving the culture, values and independence that underpin 42T’s success. This includes protecting 42T’s position as a trusted partner to some of the world’s best-known brands, as well as many ambitious start-ups and SMEs.
Becoming part of British Engines marks the start of an important new chapter in 42T’s development. The acquisition enables 42T to pursue larger and more ambitious opportunities, supported by the group’s global reach, engineering depth and investment capacity. It will also allow 42T to broaden its innovation and manufacturing capabilities, and to take on larger-scale developments for its clients.
Dr Jon Spratley, CEO of 42 Technology commented: “Joining British Engines Group will help power 42T’s future growth and allow us to build on the strong foundations we already have as a company. It’s a major step forward for our business, but we will continue operating exactly as before and nothing will change day-to-day for our clients, strategic partners, internal team or suppliers.”
Alex Lamb said: “42 Technology brings a highly complementary set of strengths into British Engines Group. Their consultancy expertise, front-end innovation, and strong track record in solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems make them the ideal strategic fit for our group.
“The acquisition will give British Engines access to 42T’s significant expertise in industrial edge AI, sensing, automation and intelligent systems, which aligns with our long-term ambitions. These capabilities will be invaluable for other companies within the group that are continuously looking to improve on their world-class manufacturing processes.”
42T will also benefit from access to the group’s extensive manufacturing capabilities and wider network of engineering excellence, as well as potential opportunities to diversify into new markets where British Engines has a strong presence.
