Next stop the world as Cambridge Enterprise drives brain train into King's Cross base

The move adds pace to the Cambridge-London brain train: It strengthens Cambridge Enterprise's position to compete on a world stage for capital on behalf of its ambitious cohorts and to propel more Cambridge innovations and research to commercial success with world-changing impact.
Just 48 minutes from Cambridge by train and next door to Google’s new European headquarters, the platform of the new Cambridge Enterprise office is part of a strategy to support innovators to tackle the challenges facing the world today.
Having an office at the heart of the London tech sector will help bridge two vibrant ecosystems while providing increased opportunities to secure new investors, attract skilled talent and develop relationships, while strengthening ties with the broader national and international community.
The University of Cambridge was recently named as one of the leading universities for spin-outs, according to data by the Royal Academy of Engineering in collaboration with Beauhurst. In 2024 alone, Cambridge created 26 new companies while the East of England secured 35 per cent of all total investment for spin-outs. 2024 was the best year on record for Cambridge-founded tech companies, raising $2.2 billion - double 2023 and ahead of 2021’s previous record of $2 billion.
Jim Glasheen, Chief Executive of Cambridge Enterprise, said: “Our new London office represents a strategic investment in Cambridge innovation and entrepreneurialism. By establishing this base in King’s Cross, we aim to increase engagement with national and international players, from investors to partners, whilst creating new pathways for our most promising spinouts.
“Cambridge academics and researchers are solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges and this expansion will ensure their breakthroughs can more rapidly reach those who need them most.”
