The new facility, one of two Welbeck centres opening outside of London that year, will be located at Unity Campus, just south of Cambridge and off the M11, offering exceptional access to Cambridge residents and the wider region. Business Weekly published the skeleton proposal in February 2024.

With dedicated extensive on-site parking and excellent transport links, the centre is positioned to become a new hub for private medical care in East Anglia.

The group is investing £22 million into the Cambridge site to fund the development, infrastructure, and cutting-edge technology to put it at the forefront of private healthcare in East Anglia.

This investment will create new local employment opportunities, support economic growth and strengthen the community by ensuring that jobs are generated locally within the area.

Oliver Wiseman, Lead consultant and Commercial Director of the Cambridge group, said: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing Welbeck’s innovative healthcare model to Cambridge. This is a city known for excellence in science and medicine and our new centre will reflect that standard, combining outstanding clinical care with a truly patient-centric approach.

“We’re building a facility that not only serves the immediate community but also attracts patients from across the region who are seeking fast, expert-led and personalised treatment in a world-class environment.”

Welbeck Cambridge will bring together leading clinicians across a broad range of specialities, including, but not limited to: Orthopaedics; Cardiology; Digestive Health (Gastroenterology and General Surgery); ENT; Urology; Ophthalmology; Dermatology; Pain Management; Neurology and Neurosurgery; General Practice; Lung Health (Respiratory & Sleep Medicine); Paediatrics; Women’s Health (Gynaecology & Breast Health).

This latest centre will build on the proven model established at OneWelbeck in London, offering same-day diagnostics and minimally invasive procedures in a modern, patient-focused environment. Welbeck Health Partners is committed to redefining the healthcare experience through investment in advanced technologies, world-class facilities, and partnerships with top-tier clinical professionals.

Andrew Chadwick-Jones, CEO of Welbeck Health Partners, said: “Cambridge is one of the UK’s most dynamic centres for science and innovation, and we’re proud to be bringing our model of preventative, patient-first healthcare to the region.

“Our aim is to make high-quality private care accessible to a broader population, while working alongside local clinicians to deliver outstanding outcomes. We believe in empowering clinicians and investing in infrastructure that supports truly exceptional patient care. Our Cambridge centre will reflect that commitment, and we are confident it will become a destination for private healthcare, not only locally but nationally and internationally.”

Welbeck Health Partners currently operates its flagship centre in London, working with over 350 leading specialists and serving more than 100,000 patients annually. The opening of Welbeck Cambridge is part of a broader strategy to extend this successful model to key regions across the UK.

Further details about the opening date and recruitment of specialist teams will be announced later this year.
