Cambridge Innovation Capital unveils new investment team Principal

Cambridge Innovation Capital, the supercharged VC investor enabling visionaries to build global, category-leading companies in the Cambridge ecosystem, has promoted Carol Cheung to Principal within the investment team.

Prior to joining CIC as an Associate in 2016, Carol served as commercial director of Speechmatics, a Cambridge-based startup business providing cloud-based speech recognition.

This followed earlier roles in a variety of early-stage technology companies in the UK. Carol holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA charterholder.

Since joining CIC, her work has focused on the company’s range of exciting technology investments, including managing CIC’s investment in Cytora and GeoSpock.

Cheung said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this new role within CIC. It’s been nothing short of fantastic working with the team so far to find, build and shape world-leading companies linked to the Cambridge ecosystem, and I am looking forward to the myriad of exciting opportunities heading our way in the near future.”

Managing partner Andrew Williamson added: “Carol has proven herself to be an invaluable member of the CIC team over the past four years. Her promotion reflects the significant contribution she has made to the ongoing success of CIC and we are very excited to see what she will achieve in her new role.”
