Series B fundraising planned by Cambridge games company

An online games company on the inaugural Springboard Cambridge programme – MiniMonos – is set to announce fresh funding success.

The founder of the New Zealand company has moved to Cambridge to literally use the city as a springboard to investment.

It has raised £1.2 million to date and is seeking a further £5m to globally roll out its kiddies’ game, which teaches youngsters good environmental habits.

MiniMonos tells Business Weekly that it is in the process of closing an interim follow-on round with existing investors and looking to do a Series B round towards the end of the year.

Directors also revealed that MiniMonos will hit 250,000 registered members for its eco-friendly game by the end of the month.

MiniMonos – Spanish for little monkeys – provides a virtual world for children “who love to play and love the planet.” They create monkeys and it is their job to then cherish and nourish the environment in which the creatures live.

The enterprise carries huge spin-off benefits in social and environmental responsibility such as helping to save endangered animals and funding drinking water in the Third World.

Big in New Zealand, MiniMonos wants to gain traction in the UK and US – including Latin America – and all Spanish-speaking countries around the globe.
