3D measurement technology for rail concrete sleepers
A Spanish company has developed an automatic system for 3D measurement of rail concrete sleepers. The offered technology consists of two high speed cameras and four associated lasers integrated into a linear motion system.
Both cameras capture the light reflected by the lasers, then through 3D rendering software, the surfaces of the part are reconstructed and the necessary dimensions are calculated. The complete cycle from loading to discharge a part is approximately 25 seconds. This enables the system to be used for controlling 100% of production.
The system is fully configurable and it has an intuitive interface. With this new technology it is possible to control 100% of production, and also to perform measurements with high resolution (close to 0.1 mm).
