Faroe Islands back on Stansted radar

Atlantic Airways, the Faroe Island based airline, has decided to move its UK flight operations back to Stansted and will launch new direct services on June 5, 2014.

Flights will operate twice a week each Monday and Thursday.

The Faroe Islands, formed by a collection of 18 islands, are linked by a road and sub-ocean tunnel network making it easy to get around. Renowned for dramatic landscapes and mild climate influenced by the gulf stream, they are an ideal destination for hikers, birdwatchers or those seeking adventure.

An Atlantic Airways spokesperson said: “We have been impressed by the team at Stansted and its desire to work closely with us to ensure the success of our 2014 summer service to the spectacular Faroe Islands.

“We are also working closely with our partners in the islands’ new tourism team and are delighted that a number of new UK operators are now offering holidays in the Faroe Islands.”
